Last week saw the close of Cityread 2014 and what an exciting month it has been. Two special events which took place in the final week were a great success at Brent Libraries and Kingston Libraries both of which used ALAG’s translated synopsis in Tamil of My Dear I wanted to tell you by Louisa Young.
Here are some photos that ALAG would like to share with you:

Yamuna Tharmendiran who heads the Tamil Reading Group which meets every month in Brent Libraries said:
“On behalf of the Tamil Reading Group our thanks to you to give opportunities like this and I am sure we will look forward to supporting Cityread London, ALAG and future events like these which are very important to our community. Thanks once again.”
The final event for the month took place at Kingston Libraries with the Tamil Elder’s Group:
Alison Townsend, Team Leader: Adult Services & Acquisitions, Kingston Libraries said:
“Here’s a photo from this morning’s meeting to discuss “My Dear, I wanted to tell you”. Both the Tamil synopsis and English notes were used, and everyone said they would recommend the book to a friend. Not everyone had managed to finish reading it, but they were going to, and all felt that they had got a lot more out of it by discussing than reading in isolation. Hopefully this may be the start of a group meeting regularly at the library. A successful meeting and very worthwhile, and great that they want to participate next year as well.”
ALAG would like to thank Stellar Libraries, the Cityread London team and all the organisations and Library Authorities which have taken up the offer of facilitating reader development events using the translated synopsis in various languages, working together to “bring reading to life”.
