What’s new for 2012?

Oliver Twist is the chosen book for Cityread London April 2012

Happy (belated) New Year to all ALAG members and followers of our blog. It has been a busy start to the year as following on from our meeting in December 2011, ALAG are going full steam ahead to provide resources to use for the forthcoming Cityread London promotion in April 2012. Members are going to translate summaries of the chosen title: Oliver Twist in Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Panjabi, Tamil and Urdu so that they can be used by reading groups from diverse backgrounds. The promotion is going to be in all London boroughs and ALAG’s idea is to include all Londoners in the Cityread. It’s a big task but we are definitely up for it!

Translations will be available to buy at £50 per language and if libraries need a facilitator for their reading group / event ALAG can also provide this (subject to availability), at a very reasonable £75. ALAG’s initiative has been publicised at the recent Cityread marketing meeting and we already have many enquiries and orders coming in – great news for Londoners!

To tie in with Charles Dickens’ 200th birthday on 7th February, ALAG members are planning a trip to the Dickens’ Museum – look out for more details.
